Integration
Shopify integration: orders, stock and customer messages connected to your tools
Shopify runs the store. This page describes what can be automated around it, how the Admin API and webhooks connect to your other tools, and the app scopes and API versions to plan for.
- Platform type
- Ecommerce
- Connects via
- GraphQL Admin API, Storefront API, webhooks
- Main requirement
- A custom app with the right access scopes
What can be automated with Shopify
Each row is a trigger and what follows it. Your project uses the rows that fit your process.
| When this happens | What the automation does |
|---|---|
| A new order is placed | A row is added to Google Sheets and an alert goes to the fulfillment chat |
| An order is paid | A sales receipt is created in QuickBooks or Xero |
| A checkout is abandoned | A reminder email or chat message goes to customers who opted in |
| A shopper asks about a product or an order | An AI assistant on the store answers the product and order status question |
| Inventory runs low | A purchase request is created |
| A new customer signs up | They are added to the CRM and email list with consent |
| A product spec sheet is added | AI drafts the product description for approval |
How Shopify connects
The official GraphQL Admin API, the Storefront API and webhooks.
- A native n8n node
- A verified Make app
- A Zapier app
What to know before starting with Shopify
- API versions are released quarterly and each is supported for a limited period, so integrations need periodic updates.
- Custom connections need a custom app created in the store admin with the right access scopes.
- Local payment methods at checkout depend on a payment gateway such as PayMongo or Xendit being connected to the store.
No partner status with Shopify or its vendor is claimed. Points marked as confirmed during scoping are checked against your own account before a build is quoted.
What we need for a Shopify project
We need from you
- Store admin access, or permission to create a custom app
- A named owner who approves changes
- Test orders or a development store
How a project would be approached
- Review the Shopify account, its plan and what access it allows
- Build and test the connection on a test account or test records first
- Staff approve the first live runs before the rest go live
- Written handover notes; the accounts stay yours

Questions we get asked
What can be automated around Shopify?
Order alerts, order records in sheets, accounting entries, abandoned-checkout reminders, stock alerts and customer messages. Each depends on the access scopes granted to the app.
What does Shopify require before an integration goes live?
A custom app in the store admin with the scopes the project needs. We list the scopes in the scope document so you can review them.
Will it break when Shopify changes its API?
Versions are released quarterly and supported for a limited period, so integrations need periodic updates. Support after launch covers this and is quoted separately.
