What can be automated with Odoo

Each row is a trigger and what follows it. Your project uses the rows that fit your process.

When this happensWhat the automation does
A Messenger or website lead arrivesAn Odoo CRM opportunity is created with its source and salesperson
A sales order is confirmedA delivery task is created and the warehouse chat is notified
Stock on a product runs lowA purchase request is raised
A supplier invoice PDF arrivesAI reads it and a draft vendor bill is created for review
A Shopify or WooCommerce order comes inIt syncs to an Odoo sales order
An invoice is paidA receipt message goes to the customer
Every nightSales and stock figures go to a dashboard

How Odoo connects

The external API, which uses JSON-2 with an API key. XML-RPC and JSON-RPC are the older interfaces. Webhooks are created through Odoo Studio automated actions.

  • A native n8n node
  • A verified Make app
  • A Zapier app for Odoo CRM

What to know before starting with Odoo

  • The vendor documentation states that external API access is available only on Custom pricing plans, not on One App Free or Standard.
  • XML-RPC and JSON-RPC are scheduled for removal (Odoo 22 and Online 21.1, per the documentation), so new builds plan for the JSON-2 API.
  • Which protocol each connector uses is checked during scoping.
  • Webhooks depend on Odoo Studio being available on the database.

No partner status with Odoo or its vendor is claimed. Points marked as confirmed during scoping are checked against your own account before a build is quoted.

What we need for a Odoo project

We need from you

  • Admin access to the Odoo database
  • A named owner who approves changes
  • A test database or test records

How a project would be approached

  • Review the Odoo account, its plan and what access it allows
  • Build and test the connection on a test account or test records first
  • Staff approve the first live runs before the rest go live
  • Written handover notes; the accounts stay yours

Questions we get asked

What can be automated in Odoo?

Lead and order creation, stock alerts, vendor bill drafts, order syncs from online stores and customer messages after payment. Anything the Odoo API exposes can be part of a workflow.

What does Odoo require before an integration goes live?

A plan that includes external API access, an API key, and, for webhooks, Odoo Studio. We check these on your database first.

Which plan, approval or fee applies on the Odoo side?

External API access is limited to Custom pricing plans per the vendor documentation. If your plan does not include it, the options are discussed before any build.
